    American Madness, the 1932 Frank Capra Depression-era run-on-the-bank financial crime melodrama ("The Great American Picture of Today!"; "Story and Dialogue by Robert Riskin") starring Walter Huston, Pat O'Brien, Sterling Holloway, Kay Johnson, Constance Cummings, and Gavin Gordon. There are those (myself included) who consider this a better Capra movie than "It's a Wonderful Life" (which reprised a significant part of the plot of this movie, involving a "run" on the bank sequence, although the one in this movie is far more realistically portrayed).
