    Description

Antique 1920s Oak Goudey Gum Oh Boy Chewing Gum  Lithographed Advertising display Ex. Fawcett collection.  This piece was purchased from George Thompson in 1969 by John Fawcett from the original Goudey Building .   It was purchased by David Goode in 1970 and by my consignor in 1972.  This is not a fantasy Piece , it was made for  the office of  president of the company Enos Goudey around 1923- 24 , when Oh Boy Chewing gum was making a profit and they moved to their new building in 1924.  It is in incredible untouched condition and was never used except as a display in the offices of the company. It is made of quarter sewn oak and the lithographs where printed directly on the wooden panels, you can see the crazing from age in the last few pictures . This is probably the rarest and the best OH Boy advertising pieces you will ever find , it is one of a kind . Goudey was famous for thier 1930s baseball premium sports cards sets that featured players such as babe ruth who was a big fan of Oh boy gum.

    Size: 30" tall x 11"

Condition: excellent untouched condition,  original finish , paint and lithographs .  Lithographs are crazed from age .  The only parts that do not appear to be original or where  cleaned , and restored,   are the Goudy Gum Co. Plaques on the top . They slide out and may or may not have been original to the piece.

Please note it has been confirmed that the two Goudy oak plaques are not original to the piece , they are later additions, the rest of the piece is original and authentic. They will be sold with the piece  but they are not original.
