Ashton Pipe Collection, 8 Pipes, Custom Two Tray Storage Box, All Made in 1996

Description

This is a beautiful 8 pipe set made by Bill Taylor of Ashton (William Ashton Taylor). The pipes are all POTS/Billiards and all were made in 1996. The case was made by Bill as well. The top level contains 4 pipes which have been lightly smoked and they are Old Church or Pebble Grain in each finish he produced at the time. The bottom section contains 4 pipes and all are unsmoked. These are Sovereign Grade XXX and again represent all of the stains he used at the time. The pipes are in wonderful condition as is the case. To my knowledge, Bill produced other sets - 7 pipe series primarily- but this is his only eight pipe set. The pipes are all the same size, all the same date. The plaque is included and will be “uncovered” for the buyer to do with as they please.Bill died in 2009. He was a friend. I smoked Dunhill pipes until I discovered Ashton. To me, they are better. Each pipe is 5 3/4” in length, each bowl is 2” in height, each bowl is 1 1/2” across the top, and each chamber opening is 1”.  The pipes that have been smoked were filled with Virginia, VaPers, Burley, or light English tobacco. I do not smoke aromatics. I am older now and my health is not good. It is time to let these go. I hope who ever buys them enjoys them!
