Casas Grandes Polychrome Handmade Mata Ortiz Pottery Clay Vessel Jar Signed Fito Tena.
This charming pot measures about 10" in diameter, 9" tall and has a rounded bottom.  It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks, but there are some scratches and scuffs. It was made in Mata Ortiz, Chihuahua, Mexico and is signed by a well-known artist there; Fito Tena.
This pot is all handmade, no potter's wheel was used.  The clay is found locally as well as the paint. Nothing is store-bought.  Once the pot is made, it's dung-fired in the ground (no kiln).
