Description
While not rare in and of itself, to find an unsmoked Charatan Belvedere is relatively rare as most from the Lane Era were thoroughly enjoyed! This one happens to be their iconic shape 483 Calabash or Bell Shape and a beauty indeed. I love the shape of this bowl with Dublin at heart but up top we find the flared Calabash style rim with a generous chamber affording excellent capacity. At only 38g it is quite lightweight and well balanced. As the bowl tapers it rounds out before transitioning to a half bent sturdy shank that extends to meet the original vulcanite Double Comfort saddle stem with crisp CP logo and Reg#203573. Finish is classic Belvedere, a deep and rich plum and ruby red with golden undertones highlighting the remarkable starburst grain on the left side radiating in all directions with loads of birdseye on the right, wow! While this pipe does unfortunately have quite a few dings/scratches, it remains unsmoked and comes with vintage Charatan gold lettered sock. A rare opportunity to smoke a Charatan for the first time in almost 60 years!Nomenclature: CHARATAN'S MAKE, LONDON ENGLAND, BELVEDERE, 483DC
Dimensions (approximate): 5 5/8" Long, 2" Tall, 15/16" Chamber Width, 1 5/8" Chamber Depth
Condition: Unsmoked. Briar has many dings/scratches/handling marks but are overall minor/aesthetic. Stem shows a touch of residual oxidation.
Weight: 38g
