DUNHILL 1966 RARE UNSMOKED ROOT BRIAR LB (LARGE BILLIARD) F/T ESTATE PIPE

While Dunhill LB's are not rare in and of themselves, to find an unsmoked one certainly is! Out of the hundreds of LB's I have offered over many years, I do not recall ever having one that had not seen flame. Why? Because Dunhill's LB is one of the most sought after shapes of all time and they were almost all thoroughly enjoyed! Hard to fathom how this one escaped flame over the past 55 years, especially being a stunning Root Briar. Per usual, it fits like a glove in hand offering a classic stout bowl with thicker walls than I have ever seen on an LB surrounding the generous Group 4 chamber. Shank is muscular and very well proportioned while the bowl seems to lean away showing just a touch of forward cant. Stem is original vulcanite with fishtail bit and crisp white spot. The finish is as beautiful as it gets and the Root Briar of the 1960's in my opinion was just about the finest and only second to the 1930's with both decades showing more red to the Root Briar finish than their later counterparts. Deep golden undertones with an almost russet hue, it perfectly highlights the exceptional loads and loads of tight tiny birdseye on the right side while the left shows more that cascades into flame radiating in all direction while to the front and rear we find ultra fine cross grain all showing tremendous depth. This is one of those pipes where the pictures simply do not fully capture just how amazing the grain is. Awaiting its first smoke, a rare opportunity to grab a gem of a Dunhill; do not miss this one!!!
