Karl Erik Ottendahl's pipes developed a loyal following during his lifetime due to their rare combination of high-end quality, unique Danish character and surprising value. And it was his Karl Erik EKSTRAVAGANT (or Ekstravagan) series that represented the peak
of his skill and artistic vision. This exquisite Horn-shaped Karl Erik Ekstravagant briar pipe is a perfectly luxurious example.
The brownish-orange color beautifully enhances the graceful shape and exquisite grain which is further complemented by a black acrylic stem and a sterling silver mount with an eye-catching hammered design.
While the pipe is marked as in "new" unsmoked condition and has been kept under lock and key for most of its time since arriving from Denmark, there are a few teeth marks from a customer trying it on for size. Also, the inner lining of the bowl is rather inconsistent in texture and thickness, being thicker towards the bottom.
These should not in any way affect the smoking quality of the pipe nor impede the overall enjoyment of a truly stunning work of art handmade by Karl Erik Ottendahl himself.
Karl Erik Ottendahl passed away in 2004, but his Karl Erik pipes continue to deliver immensely rewarding pipe smoking adventures for those lucky enough to possess his wondrous creations. And this unique smooth finished beauty is sure to be a most treasured addition to any pipe collection.
