The axe bit (blade) is stainless steel with some heat treatment to toughen the steel a bit, and a nice, sharp edge is added for authentic appeal. The axe bit of Loki's Viking Battle Axe of Valhalla is two-toned with a painted black finish. The hardwood handle is rubbed and finished smooth to show the natural wood grain.
