POUL WINSLOW UNSMOKED 2012 PIPE OF THE YEAR #69/150 FACET FREEHAND ESTATE PIPE

Description

Poul Winslow will undoubtedly go down in the annals of high grade Danish pipe making as one of the greatest ever, and he continues to impress after more than 50 years. I believe he started his Pipe of the Year series in 2010, a fantastic series seeing incredible pieces with this beauty his 2012 POY and was limited to only 150 made with this one numbered 69. It remains unsmoked and is a remarkable 12 facet freehand that cradles in hand perfectly. It offers a robust bowl with ultra thick walls with a relatively modest chamber yet still offers plenty of capacity. Showing Dublin/Horn characteristics, the shank transitions effortlessly and is quite muscular and becomes round while adorned with a brilliant Sterling Silver band inscribed "2012" which is extended by a gray lucite ring. The stem almost appears like a Spigot set up but is push tenon with a beautiful Sterling mount as well that is beveled while the saddle acrylic features a straight bit and signature two silver dot logo. Finish is a warm and inviting medium almost walnut stain that perfectly highlights the stunning layers upon layers of flame grain radiating out of birdseye near the heel while the rim shows more all with awesome depth. Awaiting its first smoke, it comes complete with original leather glove with silver plaque inscribed "Poul Winslow 2012, 069/150". A fantastic opportunity to pick up a limited edition from Winslow, this one simply will not disappoint!
