Description
From Giancarlo's original Picta Collection this R1 13 is a fantastic shape in the series which I believe is 19 in total. To celebrate the art work of Vincent Van Gogh featuring pipe smokers, Giancarlo came up with shapes that evoke days of old and the Tankard here certainly does just that! It is modeled after a painting of a man smoking a cob which of course is the inspiration from which the Tankard evolved. This gorgeous pipe remains unsmoked and offers a lovely Barrel shaped bowl with a singe bead, extra thick walls, and an inward slanting rim leading to a generous chamber for its size. The transition lies about one third of the way up the bowl and is short but quickly extended by a brilliant Sterling Silver mount that looks like a spigot setup however it is actually push tenon. Stem is acrylic with a spade like fishtail bit and inlaid silver "J" logo. The finish on this pipe is stunning, a rich golden natural while the bowl is mostly finely rusticated with excellent attention to detail while the base and rim were left smooth showing lovely grain adding a nice touch. Comes complete with original box, sock and papers and awaits its first smoke, a fantastic Ser Jacopo Van Gogh Picta 13!Nomenclature: SER JACOPO, FATTA A MANO IN ITALIA, PER ASPERA AD ASTRA, PICTA 13
