This is a PHOTOCOPY of a Vintage 1930s pattern to make doll clothes for your Patsy Doll. I have this pattern available in a variety of sizes, so please be sure that you are buying the right one. This auction is for the 14" tall Patsy doll. The pattern includes two dresses, a hat, a coat and hat, a gym suit, a robe and undergarments. The dress on the left has dainty flower embroidery and the flannel coat on the right calls for matching embroidery. The second dress is sleeveless with a double collar. The gym suit is sailor style. Also included is a robe, a slip and combination (like a romper, but for under clothes). I include a color printout of the front cover, a black and white copy of the instructions, back cover and the complete pattern. In 1927, the Effanbee Doll Company introduced a new doll called, Patsy. The original Patsy doll was a 14" tall composition doll. Patsy was different from previous dolls because she was a toddler doll, not a baby doll, which was the standard up to that point in time. Another special feature was that she came with additional clothes, which was atypical for that time. Several pattern companies made designs, so that mothers and daughters could make clothes for the girls' Patsy dolls. These patterns almost all come from the mid-1930s and reflect the fashions of the time.
Patsy became an instant success and was made for many years in a large variety of sizes. The Patsy doll was ultimately made in many sizes including: 5 ½" Wee Patsy, 8" Babyette, 9" Patsyette, 11" Patsy Jr. (Patsykins), 13" Patsy Baby, 14" Patsy (Patricia), 16" Patsy Joan, 18/19" Patsy Ann, 22" Patsy Lou, 26" Patsy Ruth and 30" Patsy Mae.
This pattern was originally created Apr 25, 1930. The copyright for this pattern has expired and it entered the public domain Jan 1, 1959
