    Description

This is a PHOTOCOPY of a Vintage 1930s pattern to make doll clothes for your 9" tall Patsy Doll. This pattern makes boy or unisex clothing for your Patsyette, boy Patsy, Skippy Doll or other composition dolls. The clothing consists of a Sailor Suit; A mannish little suit with coat and beret; Sunsuit; Robe & Pajamas; and Combination undergarment (like a romper to wear under clothes.) The sailor suit consists of top, pants, neck scarf and sailor hat. The shirt sleeve has an anchor embroidered onto it. The suit consists of shorts (short pants), jacket, beret and shirt. The suit jacket has a notched collar, cuffed sleeves and a three button closure. The shorts have a faux belt as the waistband. The shirt has bias trim on the edges and an off-center three button closure. The beret has tucks all the way around which create its shape. The robe has bias trim at the sleeve and opening edges. It has a pair of pockets with elephant embroidery. The coordinating pajamas also have bias trim. The pajamas have a monkey embroidered on the leg which with the robe creat a jungle theme. The sun suit has bias trim around the edges and an attached belt at the waist. It has a seahorse embroidered onto the bottom of the leg, which is the perfect beach design. I include a color printout of the front cover, a black and white copy of the instructions, back cover and the complete pattern. Please email me with any questions that you have.

In 1927, the Effanbee Doll Company introduced a new doll called, Patsy. The original Patsy doll was a 14" tall composition doll. Patsy was different from previous dolls because she was a toddler doll, not a baby doll, which was the standard up to that point in time. Another special feature was that she came with additional clothes, which was atypical for that time. Several pattern companies made designs, so that mothers and daughters could make clothes for the girls' Patsy dolls. These patterns almost all come from the mid-1930s and reflect the fashions of the time.
Patsy became an instant success and was made for many years in a large variety of sizes. The Patsy doll was ultimately made in many sizes including: 5 ½" Wee Patsy, 8" Babyette, 9" Patsyette, 11" Patsy Jr. (Patsykins), 13" Patsy Baby, 14" Patsy (Patricia), 16" Patsy Joan, 18/19" Patsy Ann, 22" Patsy Lou, 26" Patsy Ruth and 30" Patsy Mae.
This pattern was originally created January 7, 1932. The copyright for this pattern has expired and it entered the public domain Jan 1, 1961.
