the original owner must have removed label, for some reason. It was donated along with the unworn lime green version with cut-out sides that we're selling in our
other
Gernreich listing (SOLD 8-4-20). There's no doubt that this too is an original Gernreich suit, it's identical in pattern and construction to our green suit, except it doesn't have the side cut-outs.
like our other labeled suit, this is a vintage size 10, fits our modern size 6 mannequin well-- size is comparable to a modern size 6 or 8. Fiber content is 83% wool, 13% cotton, 4% rubber.
condition is excellent-- material is free of flaws: no holes, no soiling, no pilling, no sign of wear. Any specks in photos that appear to be pilling are only stray bits of dust. The clear plastic panel sewn to the cleavage is in surprisingly good condition with no yellowing or brittleness. Elastic, too, is in good condition.
the design features four belt loops-- two in front, two in back. A check of archival photos shows the suit worn with a matching belt. Alas, our suit lacks the original belt.
