    Description

This is a PHOTOCOPY of a Vintage 1930s pattern to make doll clothes for your Shirley Temple Doll or to make replacement clothes for your Snow White doll. Both dolls were made by the same company and the pattern works equally well for either. I have this pattern available in a variety of sizes, so please be sure that you are buying the right one. This auction is for the 18" tall doll and should fit other antique and vintage composition dolls including Patsy Ann.
This pattern makes a Snow White dress, cape, apron, princess slip and undies. The dress has the classic Snow White puffed sleeves with the contrasting appliques. The bodice drops to a v-waist and the skirt is gathered. The complete costume also includes the cape with the collar that stands high in the back. There are two sweet variations of the costume. The first has a contrasting bodice and does not have the sleeve insets. It does add an apron to the outfit with embroidered characters on it. The original pattern only comes with two embroidery designs. I have IMPROVED THE PATTERN by including all seven of the dwarf designs for embroidery. The original Snow White doll had all the dwarfs printed across her apron (see 2nd picture) and this way you can make a similar apron or skirt edge. The second variation of the dress has contrasting bodice and sleeve appliques, but no cape or apron. Also included but not shown are a pricess slip and panties. I include a color printout of the front cover, a black and white copy of the instructions, back cover and the complete pattern. Please email me with any questions that you have.

In the 1930s the country was in the midst of the great depression and morale was low. In 1934 a young girl named Shirley Temple had her first movie role. Audiences loved her and she starred in movie after movie all with happy endings, a much needed diversion from the difficult economic times. The Ideal Toy Company started making Shirley Temple dolls to sell to her young fans. With each movie that Shirley made, a new outfit from the movie was made for sale. In addition, mothers and their daughters could purchase patterns to make clothing for their Shirley Temple dolls themselves. These patterns come from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, which just shows the lasting place Shirley Temple has in our hearts.
Due to Shirley's stardom, her dolls became an instant success and were made for many years in a large variety of sizes. Shirley Temple dolls were made in the following sizes: 11", 13", 16", 17", 18", 20", 22", 25", and 27". I have patterns available for most of these sizes.
This pattern was originally created March 5, 1936. The copyright for this pattern has expired and it entered the public domain January 1, 1965.
