    VINTAGE 1950s ROSE MARIE REID OF CALIFORNIA BLACK ROCKABILLY SWIMSUIT SIZE 10 / 32
    Canadian-born American swimwear designer, business woman, and Mormon missionary,
    Rose Marie Reid
    made her first bathing suit in 1937. Her first business, Reid’s Holiday Togs, was based in Canada. In 1946 Reid moved most of the business to California, and the Canadian branch was eventually phased out.
    Rose Marie Reid suits were designed to address the concerns a woman might have about her figure. They were known to be very flattering, producing the hourglass silhouette that was so popular in the 1950s. Their suits were quite structured and included boning and zippers.
    In the late 1950s/early 1960s, Emilio Pucci did fabric designs for the Rose Marie Reid label. In 1962 Rose Marie Reid sold her company, partly because she refused to design the skimpy bikini.
    Up for auction is this simply stunning vintage 1950s rockabilly swimsuit from Rose Marie Reid of California.  Just look at the pictures and see how beautiful this swimsuit is.  This is a figure flattering swimsuit made of a soft but sturdy and stretchable fabric that feels like a nylon acetate blend.  This black swimsuit features bust cups with a soft tight accordion fold fabric.  The shoulder straps attach in the back and have 4 separate button settings so the length and fit is a bit adjustable.  The bust cups and back have sewn in supports.  The leg openings are elasticized.  The crotch and is lined.  This swimsuit has a zipper closure in the back.  As the pictures demonstrate this swimsuit is in excellent vintage condition and ready to wear!!!  To feel this swimsuit in your hands. . . you really see what a fine quality  swimsuit this is!!!
