*UNSMOKED*N.O.S.* ORLIK 163 UNSTAMPED (pre-Cadogan/pre-1980) English Pipe
An unsmoked ORLIK from the
pre-Cadogan
period, bearing as only mark the ORLIK mark on the stem (circular 'o' as a brass inlay) and the shape number.
The pipe was found with its pouch (which we offer in this listing as a bonus) and an ORLIK box which was totally damaged and was thrown away. It is obvious that this is an original ORLIK. The question is why it was not stamped (except for the shape number). Still, we read (Pipedia, Dating Orlik Pipes) that series without letters before the shape number are the best in grade, i.e. Virgin, Straight Grain and Super Grain. We leave any further conclusions to you.
In all cases, the pipe offered in this listing has beautiful grains, birds eye on the sides and straight on the front and back parts.

We have selected not to list uncleaned "as is" pipes, for the reason that important defaults may be hiding behind dirt, oxidation or cake. For this reason we prefer the long and tedious work of cleaning them before they are offered for sale. Oxidation is removed from the stems and then they are sanitized using pure alcohol. The stummels are carefully cleaned and then sanitized. Most of the cake is removed from bowl interior of used pipes, leaving a thin layer of only about 0.5-1.0 mm cake so that the pipes do not need to be cured from start.
